Leah McKellop, Licensed Rolfer®
It all started when…
I was studying Applied Psychology at NYU and running a yoga studio in New York when I first came across Rolfing. I heard about it in two very different capacities, as more of a somatic therapy from professors and psychology-professionals and then as sports rehabilitation from my yoga students. Their enthusiasm was contagious so I gave it a try. My most vivid memory from those first sessions was that Willy (my Rolfer) totally repositioned the bones of my feet and shifted the shape of my arches. Today that sounds pretty standard to me but at the time I had no idea my body had so much potential for change. From that moment I decided I wanted to be able to do that for people too. I graduated from NYU in 2011, The Rolf Institute in 2014 and will be completing my Advanced Certification with the European Rolf Association in 2023. I originally practiced Rolfing alongside social work but have been in full time practice for the last 8 years. Rolfing is a beautiful melding of my two passions, human experience (stories) and pattern recognition (how those stories settle in your body).
